12 days in shanghai

hey,

I'd definitely recommend Hangzhou for a couple of days. We hired bikes and cycled round the lake which was really pretty. We also did a day trip to Zhujiajiao which is a quaint and ancient little water town. I've heard Suzhou is worth a visit too.

Hi there -

I live here in Shanghai! Are you wanting to stay based in Shanghai, or are you looking at flying/train travel to other locations and maybe do a round trip??

Day trips, yes to Suzhou/Hangzhou/Tongli/Sheshan - probably not all of them!
Nanjing is well worth a visit... tombs, temples and also very interesting to see the Nanjing Massacre Museum (closed on Mondays)... would be a long day if you managed to fit it all in and return back same day.

If you are wanting to travel further afield... Xian and the terracotta warriors are amazing, and at the time of year you are visiting the Ice Festival in Harbin is getting ready to open, and may be worth going up there. It opens on the 5th.

South to Yangshuo is gorgeous, and the whole Yunnan province is lovely.

Let me know if I can help with more information... I could easily give you 12 days worth of activities in Shanghai anyway!!

Just remember it's cold here now... so bring a good jacket!!
