Hi guys!
Hi Mel, sorry you didnt get the reply that you wanted on this Post.
I am however, travelling around August next year and wondered if you plans have evolved since November.
I am visiting The USA and Australia with maybe a few stops inbetween
Michael
Why not August this year and not a year and a half from now? Anyway, August will have hotels cheaper than the Christmas and New Years holiday period in the warm places like Thailand. But you will get some more heat and or rain.
Will you have a job left after a 6 months holiday? At least consider a shorter holiday. Research the visas you need for each country. Some countries may require proof of onward travel. Round trip plane ticket from UK to Asia will be cheaper than 2 one-way flights.
Flying to Asia is only part of the planning, you have to know how to access money when you need it. (Often by using debit cards in an ATM.) You might not want to travel with many thousands of UK pounds in your bag so you don't get get robbed. Plan on emergencies that might come up - like sickness and accidents! (I wouldn't fully trust anyone you meet on the road, especially if you have a lot of money on you!)
Plan a budget out and see how much per day you can afford for hotels and other expenses. You can't do too wrong by reading travel guides on the countries you want to visit.
Because you have never done something like this before maybe just go for 30 days with round trip ticket. From Thailand it is easy to get to Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia even overland. But different countries means different entry rules.
If you are a woman, keep in mind that when women get in trouble often drinking too much alcohol is a factor. Also the best of friends can be mortal enemies and even rivals by the time 6 months is up! Another good reason to have a shorter holiday to work some kinks out!
I wouldn't give up a good job in a bad economy!
Hi, I would like to know what are your interests and what do you look forward to during travel?
There are nice places/countries to visit in the East and a lot to do to! List are numerous! Shopping, exploring, beach/island hoping, water activities, trekking, relaxation, amusement themed trips, etc.
