Hey,
You can spend some time exploring around Cairns, visit the Daintree, Cape Tribulation, the Atherton tablelands and do some diving/snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. On your way south don't forget to drop in at the Whitsundays to explore the islands and do some snorkelling. Eungella NP near Mackay is interesting as is the Paluma area, but I'd only visit these if you have time. As you said, Fraser Island is great, make sure you spend at least a couple of days there.
