Getting the right trip mileage

I came up with a awkward way to ensue my total trip mileage was counted on my trip planner. My first entry is my hometown (Los Angeles) and it is also my last stop. This connected the dots for the total mileage but poses other problems. Surely, there is an easier way to do this. What is it?

Hi Dayts, that's actually pretty much how it's meant to be used. I know some people don't want their hometown location on the trip map for some reason, but without it you miss out on drawing the line from your home to where-ever your first stop is. I guess there's always going to be different ideas about how a map like this should look, but this is the one we're sticking with

What we've discussed though is to somehow make it so the first stop can be set as your "Home" stop and that's somehow handled differently. I guess the main difference being that you couldn't fill out the arrival date field.

The Home idea may be a good solution. Right now with the first departure and last arrival city being the same, inserting a stop doesn't necessary get it in the right sequence. The home city is only listed once in the drop down. To choose before or after is problematic. Not a big deal considering all the other features that this app provides. Nice work!
