Im 21 and going travelling.. please help :)

Hi there,

Welcome to travelers point and warmly welcome to from beautiful country Myanmar ( Burma). This is secret country for tour in South East Asia. Enjoy traveling to Myanmar.

James, what you're asking for is actually very simple to achieve.

Buy a Lonely Planet guide book for any country you're interested in and go to the cities/areas not covered very well in the guide book. Voila, you're instantly in places that are not visited by tourists.

Even in super touristy destinations like Thailand where it sometimes seems impossible to escape the hordes of backpackers it's very easy to find places where none of them go - even in places like Bangkok where there's a zillion backpackers.

Cheers,
Terry

By the way, do a little research on Colombia... for the type of travelling you're interested in doing it blows Peru away...

hi,

thanks for the feedback. i will definitely look at Myanmar.

I initially thought of going to columbia, but apparently it is dangerous (kid-napped etc) but im not sure if this is all hot air or where people have gone?

Do you think i would be alright in the rainforests of columbia or worse off there?

Thanks

James

Colombia has a few places that are off limits to foreigners, but there are enormous areas of the country that see almost no tourist traffic at all, it's VERY easy to get off the Gringo Trail and see some really cook stuff. It's definitely worth researching. (Google "Cano Cristales River" for one example of MANY.)

Cheers,
Terry

PS There hasn't been a backpacker kidnapped in Colombia in forever. Don't believe all the old news, investigate present day Colombia, it's an entirely different story.

A lot of Indonesia is still off of the beaten track and not too hard to travel around by bus.

Do watch out that you don't get too far off the beaten trail:

Come to Malaysia!

Melaka, Penang & Sabah!

Yea, there are plenty of interesting things about Colombia that we never really hear about at all.

If you end up going there make it a point to stop by the Museo Histórico Policia. I'm not sure what you're into, but they have this fake restructure of Pablo Escobar's body there. It has fake bullet holes and everything.

Supposedly the MHP is the ex-headquarters for the police there. It's pretty cool.

Visit Mongolia. Not the most popular place to visit but very interesting.

But keep in mind that to deliberately avoid many places because other tourists often visit there means you miss out on some engrossing places of interest.

Some countries you just show up and get a free entry stamp in your passport at the airport and other countries you have to jump through a few hoops to get an expensive visa. Research visa requirements first. Some countries really suck to visit during winter unless you are into igloos and snowshoes. Do your homework!!

Not all countries are the same as far as expenses go - some pretty cheap and for some places you pay an arm and leg!

I am sure you will have wonderful time here. The good things are no body know in side Myanmar. do more research things to do and you can get what you like in side Myanmar.
