Three options come to mind:
(1) The Greenbrier resort in West Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
(2) Asheville, North Carolina (famous for its Vanderbilt Estate and closeby to the Great Smoky National Park); and
(3) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania--take in a concert or go to the Carnegie museums, take a boat ride on one of the three rivers that converge at the town center or visit the University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning (the second tallest building on any college campus worldwide--the tallest building is in Russia.)
