Hello, im planning 10 days trip from Manhattan Kansas to Niagara falls and also wanna go to NY. maybe someone knows where should i stop i what to see during this trip? ill drive a car.
thanks
I'd head east to St Louis first and see the Westward Expansion Arch. From here I'd head north to Chicago and visit the Sears Tower, the beach on the west side of Lake Michigan and maybe a famous restaurant (sports place like Michael Jordan's or Harry Carry's) or a museum.
Next head east to South Bend, Indiana and visit the Football Hall of Fame. Continue east to Cleveland and visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Head over to Pittsburgh and visit the downtown area and the Carnegie Museum or University of Pittsburgh. Head north from here past Erie and check out the Erie Canal, then right on up to Buffalo (get some buffalo wings) and then over to Niagara Falls. Now either swing around the lake to Toronto, Canada or just get on the New York Turnpike and head towards New York. When you get down to Poughkeepsie, get off and visit three things--the Vanderbilt Estate, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's old house and the Culinary Institute of America.
Now head on down to New York City and enjoy a day or two there.
Take your trip back by heading down to Reading, PA for some great shopping at their outlets and then to Philadelphia for the world's best cheesesteaks (hard to say if Geno's or Pat's is better, but they are both on the corner of 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue--so you can decide for yourself). Now head back home by cutting south through Washington, DC, then west through Nashville, TN and Memphis or else staying north through Charleston, WV and stopping off to see the Mammoth Caverns.
Enjoy
I think in NY State on the way to Niagra you will drive through the Hudson Valley - it's a beautiful drive and I believe they filmed "Last of the Mohicans" up there.
