Police fine Australia

I've received a fine from the police in Queensland that I really don't want to pay. Does anybody know what happens if I don't pay? Will I get stopped when leaving Australia?

I don't know what'll happen. I think the general sentiment from the last time we had this question (quite a few years ago) was to pay the fine if you ever (for the rest of your life) want to return to Australia. Way too much hassle to deal with it (plus extra piled up fines for not paying, etc) when you return. My advice: Challenge it or pay it, but don't ignore it.

I wasn't able to find the thread I mostly remember, but here's some old vaguely related threads dealing with speeding fines:

Pay the fine.

Australian customs are quite tough and they may demand the money when leaving, as they may stop you entering the country at any future date if you ever decide to return.

Australian Airport Immigration Officers have a computer link to Traffic Infractions? Wow...

Cheers,
Terry
