Nepal (Mid September). Need trekking advice

Hi,
First off, lucky you. You will fall in love with Nepal. Speaking from my experience, I would do the trek. You can raft anywhere but there are few places in the world you can trek and have the back drop as Mount Everest! If I go again, I would hire a guide when I got to Pokhora - ask the hotel - it is much much cheaper and they are fantastic. The guides and porters used by the companies wait around until they get a new job so you are likey to get a guide who usually works for a big company who takes their cut first. This way you both win.
Let me know if you need any further advice. I have lived and worked in Nepal

Hey wendy!
Yeah treking sounds good. However how much would it cost to hire a guide for 3 days?
What is roughly the total expenditure for the time?

Hello,

To make the trek more budget way is you can just hire a guide or guide /porter ( who can help you to carry your bag also) you to carry your bag also) and pay your meals and guest house accommodation by yourself)
The cost for the guide hiring, -snip- mostly the cost is depends on the quality of guides and from different agencies , inclusive all their expenses it will cost you above USD 20 per day.

Hi
I agree with nepaltrek. It is quite cheap to trek through the Annapurnah track and stay at tea houses. I paid about $25.00aud per day and that included food, a guide and a porter. You can go as slow or fast as you want. I bought the porter walking shoes at the end of the trek (he was wearing thongs!) and various other things.

Just have fun, the Nepalese people are wonderful

Hello,
Although everything is set, I will suggest you to trek as well as raft. As you need to go pokhara while starting trek for PoonHill. So, if you choose land transport (Tourist Bus Or any) trisuli rafting point is on the way you can raft while moving to pokhara or while returning back. I think this will give you chance for both trekking and rafting.

You can easily do this hike by yourself. Its the most popular hike out of Pokhara and reachable in a day if you bus or taxi to the start of the park. It is almost all steps though. I saw at least two women collapsed and in tears when I was heading back, so a good level of fitness is very necessary and a certain amount of acclimatization to the altitude. From my memory Everest isn't visible at all from Poon Hill, as its over 300km away.

If you do go with a guide, be warned that as well as good ones, there are a lot of bad ones. talk to people and get a recommendation from someone that has actually used the guide, no matter what your best friend that you just met who works at the travel agent or guest house in Pokhara says.

Hey guys thanks for the advice!
I decided on doing Poon Hill.
Can anyone tell me the price of lodge/teahouses on the trek?
Maybe a breakdown prices of everything necessary.

Thanks!
