Hello Jersey,
i am open for any suggestion about this eurotrip,
right now in my mind i have spain, italy and balkanian countries
serbia,romania,hungary. macedonia, etc...

what do you think about this idea?

Hey Lukas,

It's a good idea that you head to the balkans if you want to keep your expenses short, those countries are great to enjoy on a tight budget. Personally, i've been to Serbia, Hungary, Bosnia & Croatia and they all have a lot to offer (natural beauty, historical sites, friendly people), Croatia being the most expensive of them. Friends of mine that have been to Romania and Bulgaria said those are wonderful countries as well and possibly even cheaper than the ones i mentioned.
Hitchhiking is relatively easy in those countries, but the option of taking the train won't ruin your finances either: train-travel is very cheap when compared to other european countries.

Spain and Portugal are also cheap countries even though not as cheap as the balkans. Italy, although a very interesting country both culturally/historically and because of its mediterranean landscapes, is not cheap. Prices in Rome compare to those found in the most expensive cities of Europe such as London, Geneva, Paris or Wien. I found Italy to be one of the most difficult places in Europe to hitchhike. Fortunately there are many options for train-travel, but if you're on a budget always choose the regional trains that are a lot cheaper than the fast connections.
