I'm heading to Sydney and still haven't booked a hostel. Was wondering if anyone could recommend a good, but affordable one they may have stayed in. Thanks.
I stayed in Base just off George Street for 2 weeks and that was pretty good. I'm staying at the YHA Railway Square when I'm in Sydney just before Christmas; it seems to get good reviews and it's central.
Wake- up seems to be one that's always popular but I think it's a bit more of a party hostel so it depends what you're looking for.
Is Base ok then Bex? I'm staying there for the Xmas nye period. I mean I'll have a good time regardless, but just wondered what the vibe is like
has the *most awesome* view imaginable - there's a balcony area overlooking the Harbour Bridge and Opera House and the Rocks area has far more character than the really corporate centre of the CBD. This would be my pick in a heartbeat based on what I've seen around the city.
Mind you, if you wanted the party hostel, then Wake Up is probably a better choice.

I thought it was pretty good, and the location is great. It's quite sociable and the bar area was a good place to hang out. I was on the girls only floor which was lovely - I'm sure the rest of the rooms are nice too!

I loved the Scary Canary - great bar!
Thanks guys. Checking them out but also Nomad is appealing to me.
