ATM problems in Argentina

As from last week, it's been suddenly impossibile for me to withdraw pesos from my Italian bank accounts using argentinian ATMs (compatible with foreign cards).
I've tried different cards from different banks, although all in the Cirrus/Maestro network.
In every case the ATM tells me that my card can't be used.
I've talked with both argentinian and italian bank employees, no one could tell me why my cards dont' work.
The cards are fine and work without problem when i use them to buy things in shops with POS and Online.

No clue what the situation is with your cards, but why in the world are you using ATMs to withdraw pesos at the utterly ridiculous and corrupt government rip-off rate?

The banks and ATMs are giving barely over 5.5 ARS to $1 USD and any informal money exchange facility is over 9 pesos.

The banking system is a disaster there...

Cheers,
Terry
