I'm thinking of doing an organised tour from Bogota to Cartagena, but it doesn't go to Tayrona National park which I'd really like to see. Would it be easy for me to arrange this once I arrive in Cartagena? Are there plenty of local tour operators that go to there? If so any recommendations or tips would be great.

I've never taken an organized tour but there are lots of companies offering this service in Cartagena. Tayrona is a very popular destination.
Take a few days though... it's a minimum 6 hour round trip from Cartagena, sometimes quite a bit longer...

First question: Why don't the tour company tailor you tour to suit?
The logical route for you would be Bogotá - Tayrona - Cartagena to save going back on yourself, assuming that you fly from Cartagena back to your country of origin though you can of course fly from Santa Marta but I don't think you can get a baggage connect directly onto your international flight.
That said, there are tour companies that will take you to Tayrona, though be prepared to pay a bit for the private transport (3 1/2 - 4 hours from Cartagena) to the park, bilingual guide (I'm assuming) etc etc.

Thanks for the info Juan. The tour I have chosen is a fixed itinerary; unfortunately tailor- made tours tend to be much more expensive and so are out of my budget,
