Hello Pranav - It depends what you want! You can probably stay in a three or four star hotel for $120 per night but it might not be the best experience. We stayed at the Nest on Palolem Beach in central Goa a few years ago. We had a beach hut with our own shower room (cold water) and toilet at the back. It was right on the beach and fantastic for lazing about, having a beer, meeting people and walking up and down the beach. The Nest has it's own restaurant and bar directly on the beach too and there are loads of other beach bars and cafes all along the beach. And all for a lot less than $120 per night (off the top of my head I think it was $30). But it wasn't five star and wasn't carpetted (it was sand!) and it didn't have posh leather sofas in the lobby. It was clean and we enjoyed it thoroughly!
Thanks so much Boris! I like everything about what you described with regard to the Nest. I too would like to avoid the standard three or four star hotel experience - but I do need hot water. If there is anything else just like the Nest that has hot water, please do let me know. Thanks once again for responding to my post.
But why south goa ? I mean north is best to be in even am travelling dis yr end to goa.I will be heading towards Calangute.
My friend wanted to avoid the crowds. Hence, we picked South Goa. We actually made our bookings last night. Calangute is great. I've been there many years ago and I still have very fond memories of it. We're not looking to do the crazy partying etc (which I'll admit is a LOT of fun!). I would not have done the South Goa thing 5 years ago.
Now, I am trying to figure out transportation. I'll admit North Goa would have worked out better in terms of commuting distances.
I am nt a huge partylover though.. I said cause the beaches @ south side not that well maintained but definitely it will be maddingcrowd out at north goa... Anyway have good trip...
Beaches are crowded even at North Goa and Tito's lane nearby Baga Beach is more famous than anything else...
Being an RCI member I have stayed at RCI resort most of the time (a great place to stay with low cost) and a couple of time I have stayed at Baga Beach and loved the place...

you planning to stay at Goa, i would like to suggest north is best for stay - snip- Calangute is the most popular beach with thousands thronging it in both the peak and off-season. The waves rise high above as you wash away your city blues, though swimmer need to be a trifle cautious because of the sudden drop and the rising waves. A few kms down the beach is another—Baga.-- part of a 30 km stretch of beach coastline along the west coast of Goa which begins at Fort Aguada, continues as Sinquerim Beach, moves on to Candolim which merges into Calangute Beach and then stretches on to Baga, Anjuna and on to Vagator, finally ending at Chapora beach. Truly a veritable feast of beaches.
