Im planning a trip to Australia with my friend for a year, hoping to be on a working holiday visa. Maybe starting in Sydney until after christmas then move on from there.
I just dont know where to start as in planning wise? Any suggestions and help would be much apreciated!

Christmas and New Year are by far the most expensive times to be in Sydney. Maybe you have seen the NYE celebrations there on TV?
Lots of people head to Australia to find work each year. You could try contacting some work agencies in your arrival town before you go.

Take plenty of money with you. Accommodation in Australia is expensive and it could be months before you get a job.
im thinking about doing the same, ive been trying to find someone to go with me but everyone keeps making excuses, im shooting for the end of november right now as long as i stay out of trouble and save enoughmoney. im coming from the us and am planning on bringing 5000-7000 usd. not sure what kind of work ill do but i know it wont be picking fruit...
