I'm going to be broad here and probably annoy a lot of you - but I need help!
I have already done as much research as I can via google but will always prefer the answers of my fellow travellers - residents and visitors alike.
.....I know that a non-stop drive would take about 40hrs - that's obviously not going to happen. How much time would I consume driving say from LA to Florida including stops and spending decent time in towns along the way.
Still going to be 40 hours driving so it depends how many hours to want to drive per day, And do you want to drive every day.
Our second option would be to fly to the East Coast from LA and pick up a car there, driving top to bottom before flying back to LA and then home. Obviously this way will save a lot of time but I will also miss out on everything in-between.
Forget it..
Will the cross-country drive be worth spending all that money on fuel? or do I save some money and spend more time in the East/West Coast cities?
I know everyone is going to have different suggestions here but I'd love to hear what they are
What are you going to tell your Grandkids. I drove from Maine to Florida ( That's kinda boring Grandma, what did you do after lunch? )
or
LA all the way across the USA, Coast to Coast. ( wow Grandma, Really? Did you see the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, The Rockies, Cowboys, Indians, The Great Plains, Route 66, dip your toe in the MIssissippi & Atlantic. Memphis, Savannah, New York.?
Grandma, you were so cool in the old days.
Steve
Is your time frame at all negotiable? I have recently begun toying with the idea of trying to meet up with some international travelers and allow my car for use for all of us. Still in the very beginning stages of being planned.
