Spain or Thailand

Ok...So I am still trying to decide which place to travel to in December for a few months on a solo backpacking adventure. I have finally narrowed it down to two places! smile If you had the choice to go to Spain or Thailand...which would you choose and why?? Or if you have been to both, which would you recommend first over the other? Which would be more fun to go to while being solo for New Years and just in general?? I obviously want to experience some amazing food (which both places seem to have), some awesome night life, scenery, beaches, and history (which again, both seem to have all of those things! lol). Which place would be better to go to on a budget? Which place has better accommodations? Which place is more tourist friendly? Better transportation? Better chances of running into other solo travelers? smile

Both have many, many pros and a few cons.
But they're totally different destinations, and making any comparisons ain't that easy.
December is peak time in Thailand, so you'd have plenty of Aussies to keep you company. Start off in Bangkok staying in the Khao San/Banglamphu area will quickly link you up with lots of like-minded bods.
And if you've got a few months to spare, then also consider widening your net a bit further than just Thailand. Travelling around by bus and train (where available) is cheap and easy)

Well...the thing is, if I can only stay in thailand for up to 1 month, it might be a better idea to go to spain instead because I want to travel longer than a month! But then again, maybe spending a month in thailand then leaving from there to experience another country....might not be such a bad idea. I just can't seem to make up my mind and just go with it

I still have to experience Thailand, however, Spain is fanastic. But maybe it's better in the Spring/Summer?
Spain can be cold in December - inlands there can be snow and ice, even the coastal areas aren't that warm, 5 - 15 degrees.

Also, you'll have to spend a lot more money there (a reason for me to choose Thailand).

If you like language learning, Spain is of course a great place to learn Spanish.

I've been to both ... Spain many times . I'm currently in tgailand.

Thailand wins hands down. If your here for that long you will need at least a month to travel Thailand properly . Then you have time for Vietnam Cambodia and Loas.

I'm here a month and that's not long enough really to see and experience Thailand fully so I'm coming back again

If budget is an issue then it's no contest: Thailand.

Cheers,
Terry

Thank you very much.
