No experience on the car for Australia; I did everything with public transport and occasionally a rental car. I do think a 4x4 would be overkill for the vast majority of Australia. Maybe useful in Kakadu during the wet season, or something, but generally roads are excellent quality, and you won't be going to many places without roads.
3. Anyone know if it’s easy to get your working/holiday visa extended? Or is it only a small percentage who can get it extended? (we tried to find out, but we don’t have an Australian embassy in our country we’ve to contact the one in Malta, but only reachable by phone and as we’re in Africa that is not so easy….)
As long as you do the required three months of specified work (that is work in agriculture, mining, construction, ... in "regional Australia"; full details under Visa Applicants -> Specified Work / Regional areas ), you're guaranteed to get that second year WHV.
4. From where is the cheapest connection to go to New Zealand (from Australia) and back.
It varies, both on airline, city you're flying to, time of the year, etc, but mostly Sydney or Melbourne.
5. How much time do you need to see New-Zealand on a proper way?
At least two months. Three is better to get a thorough overview. But you really can't spend enough time there. Having spent a year there, and gone back four more times, I still have a long list of places I want to see and things to do. New Zealand may seem a much smaller country than Australia, but worthwhile sights are way more densely packed, and especially if you love hiking and nature, it's absolute paradise. Same type of laidback culture and perfect infrastructure otherwise. A very frequent sentiment in these forums is that people who've gone to both Australia and New Zealand wish they'd spent more time in total in New Zealand than in Australia. (New Zealand also has ; don't discount that.)
Thank you so much!
Didn't know about the working holiday scheme for New zealand, will deff have a look into that.
Apparently it's not allowed to show your own travellingwebsite link on this forum, so if you're interrestad, it's stated in our profile.
Thanks again!
