We are arriving in Ljubljana mid May and will rent a car to visit Logarska Dolina for 1-2 nights and then perhaps Maribor for a night. We would like to return to Ljublijana by driving north and west through Austria along the border with Slovenia. We would like to take the high mountain roads—not major highways. I see on the map a possible route would be Slovenia 436, to Austria L614 or L613 (Jurski Vrh) to 69 to 81 to L130 (out of Globasuitz) to 82 (Bad Eisenkappel) to Slovenia 210 to Kranj. Can you recommend this route? How many hours to drive it all the way through? Will the roads be snow free by May 15? Can you recommend a small town to stay in? Oberhag, Hornsdorf, Eibiswald, Lavamund? Many thanks for any advice!
