Hey. I have never been travelling before. And would love to go around march time. But I have no idea where to start. What I need to do. Money anything really. Some help and advice would be much appreciated.
Hey!
Do you have any ideas on where you wish to travel? I went travelling 2 years ago and now looking to go again. I went to Australia, NZ, Fiji and the USA. I traveled alone and absolutely loved it! The countries I chose where the 'easiest' countries to choose, as they are very popular, which was great for me as I met so many people! I managed to travel for a total of 7 months on a travel visa for £5500, and manged it well, staying in hostels, cooking my own food, have 'free' days just exploring and not spending money to save for more extreme days where I wanted to pay extra for trips and activities! Next time I am hoping to do a work visa in NZ though! Ask away if you need anything! I'll try to help whenever I can!

Yeah I'm looking to do Australia. Maybe stop at Thailand first for a couple of days. Then New Zealand. America. Fiji does look good though. I think because I have never done it before I don't know how to go about it. Like travel tickets visas everything really. Lol where to go first. All that stuff.
Visas are quite easy, tourist visa for Oz and USA can be applied for online and sent to your email, for NZ and Fiji you will get a tourist visa as you go through customs. I'm not sure on work visas yet but I'm guessing its the same way.
For tickets, what I did was shop around, just typing in 'round the world tickets' in Google is a start, there are so many different companies out there. So what I did was email different companies my travel ideas and rough dates on when to travel and they sent back itinerary and prices. A lot of companies offer a free flight change that I found very handy so if you you want to stay longer or shorter in a place you can change your flight for free.
Also travel insurance is a must, and can work out very cheap for a basic cover, then you upgrade depending on the amount of activities you want to do like bungee jumping, skydiving, winter sports and cage diving with sharks.
For money I had my bank account card and a travel mastercard. So when I arrrived in each country I transferred some of my funds onto the travel card and kept my bank card save in my backpack for emergencies.
That helps majorly thankyou. I think that's always what has put me off. Is just the not knowing what to do. Now to just save. I'm thinking of doing about 7 months. How long roughly did you stay in one place?
Yeah I was the same! But I just kept emailing companies for the cheapest flights and reading all the forums! It did help no end! 7 months was a good amount of time to travel for my budget, I stayed in OZ for 2 1/2 months, NZ for 2 months, Fiji for 3 weeks and USA for 2 1/2 months. I managed to see everything I wanted in Oz that was mainly the east coast and central Oz, and most of the areas in USA (NY to LA). However I wish I had alittle more time in NZ as it's so diverse! Some people may think different but I wish I could have stayed longer in the south island. Fiji was the right amount of time. It was like a holiday in the middle of travelling! Very relaxing vibe there, maybe too relaxing sometimes! After 3 weeks I was ready to hit the road again! Good luck with your plans!

Where to start? You could get millions of suggestions but here are a few to be going on with..
Start by making lists. Does not matter what order your lists are in. And then make lists from the lists.
- Countries you want to visit, then places within the countries.
- Total amount of time available to you, then time in each country, time in each place.
- Total amount of money available, will you need to work while away?
- What sort of accommodation? Hostel, Hotel, Camping, Budget places or more expensive.
- What sort of transportation? Bus, Boat, Plane, Train, Trecking.
Make more lists as subjects come to mind.
As your ideas come together, fine tune by looking at routes, distances etc using Google Maps.
Flights by using the internet.
Accommodation by using TP & the internet.
Research using the library, internet, ask questions on TP. Ask a travel agent. Friends & relations.
Don't sweat. Take your time. March is a good start but it could be later. Maybe the weather is better a bit later or places are cheaper.
The research can be as much fun as the trip if you let it.

Thankyou. I had started making a list. Of stuff I would need to take. And will now work on places in places I'm quite happy to do some trekking . But I'm presuming it will mainly be bus and planes. I just hope I meet other people on the way that are doing the same thing. I think it's a big thing to do on your own.

You don't need to be alone. Check out TP = & join the TP groups.
Lots of people in the same boat.
Happy travels.
