Hi.
I´m currently in La Paz, and I want to do a tour in Rurrenabaque, and it would be nice to choose which tour company to use when I am there. However, the guide books imply its difficult to buy the flight back to La Paz in Rurrenabaque. This would mean my time there is limited because I would be buying my return ticket in advance. Is this true? Do the good Pampas Tour companies run a tour every day? What do you advise?
Hi - we organised our flights independently. We flew from La Paz to Rurrenebaque with AirAmazonas. On the way out from La Paz, the flight was delayed for an hour or two until about 5pm and then they told us they would leave our check-in baggage behind and we could collect it from their office in Rurrenebaque at 8am the next day. We then went with Mashaquipe to the jungle for three nights and then by boat and car to the pampas for one more night. They then got us back to the airport at Rurrenebaque for a 2:30pm flight back to La Paz. Many people bought a one-way flight and then bought another flight back to La Paz after a week or three. Because we flew to Santiago and back (from Auckland) using LAN airways, we were able to buy a cheap flight pass for travel around South America (like a LANpass but not quite!) and we used it for these two flights, Lima to Quito, Quito to the Galapagos and back and Guayaquil to Santiago.
