Hey, so originally I was planning on going to oz in october but money troubles have put my travels back a few months. I can't decide whether i should start in Melbourne or Sydney do people have any preference? I want to get my farm work out of the way as soon as I can, does anyone know where the best place to go for this is? Also anyone else going at this time of year? it would be great to know a few people before I set off
Hey
Im heading out to Melbourne in Feb, looking to travel and enjoy melbourne for a few weeks before looking for a temp job and working my way up the east coast
I think melbourne and sydney are both popular places to start with, I guess if you're going for a year it doesnt really matter where you start if you are going to travel the whole east coast
I heard sydney is more expensive though so that may depend on how much you have saved to begin with

Hey! I'm going to Melbourne alone in feb too! Bit worried as I've never done this before so if anyone wants to arange to meet up that would be great
Hey guys,
sorry but in the time since my post I've decided to start off in Sydney, purely because it worked out a bit cheaper for me with flights and accommodation (YHA have a working holiday guarantee in some hostels, you get a discount and they help to find you a job, if your don't find a job in the first 7 days they refund 2 nights accommodation. You have to contact the hostel by e-mail and just pay a deposit). anyway I'm staying in Collaroy just outside of Sydney to begin with the hostel is across the road from the beach and lying on a beach with a beer sounds like the perfect way to get over jet lag.
I'll still be getting to Melbourne at some point as I plan to do a lot of traveling and getting my farm work done so I have a second year. I still have no solid plans after my first week in Sydney though so I'm open to suggestions, I like the idea of campervaning at some point.
