Estonia

Estonia is fantastic...the little I've seen of it anyway...I went to Tallinn in April of 2008....it was snowing heavily so I didn't get to do any daytrips within Estonia. It's definitely best to go during the summer months. I took a catamaran to Helsinki though, which was cheap and fast.

I stayed just outside the historic centre of Tallinn. Things are definitely less expensive than either Scandinavia or Western Europe. The people were very friendly and the coffee there is worth checking out

I checked out many of the museums...all very informative and interesting. Mainly I just wandered and explored....

hope this helps....

Estonia is a small and welcoming country and a great introduction to the Baltics. I have always enjoyed visiting Tallinn and walking its old streets, stopping for some delicious Estonian pastries or sipping a quiet beer as the sun sets.

However, Tallinn has also of late become home to visiting stag parties which can be loud, rude and overbearing; so stay clear. If you like nightlife then the city has a wide range of bars and clubs to cater for every taste, live music, chic bistros, terrace bars and of course the obiquitous nightclubs.

Language may be a bit of a problem when dealing with older people unless you speak Estonian or Russian (be careful where you use Russian though). Beyond Tallin the town of Tartu has a young vibrant population of students which tends to the give the place a really fresh and lively feel.

You can find out more from the 'In your pocket' series of guides which are free to download are really well informed:

Hope that's some help to you.
