We are planning an overnight hike in Yellowstone this July, it is going to be our first trip to this state park. Start and finish points are not the same, so we face a problem how can we get back to our car at the end of hike. I've read somewhere that there no shuttle service as in Grand Canyon state park. Does anyone have any suggestion? Maybe there is any other type of public transportation?
The website says there is no official public transportation within the park itself:

You may want to extend it and go on a different route back (a circle maybe?).
Maybe take a couple of smaller loop trails or find another couple with a car who have the same problem..
Thank you for suggestions, but the only choices I came up with are either rent another car or get a cab. I can't change route neither rely on finding another hiker. There will be 4 of us. But anyway, I'm surprised they don't have transportation in such popular tourist destination.
I suggest you stay in Jackson Hole, Wyoming--and then get a circle tour from there which covers both Grand Teton and Yellowstone. These are very popular for tourists in both the summer and winter. (My son just took one last week that included bus transportation to Yellowstone, snowmobiling through Yellowstone to the Old Faithful geyser, nature hikes, and a return bus trip).
He said that at one point he wandered off with his girlfriend just a short ways from their group and ended up (by mistake) about six to eight feet from a bison (buffalo). Since they were told to stay 50 feet away from those, they slowly crept back the way they came--but he said it was quite a thrill to see the bison up that close--and to also see coyotes, deer, elk, and snow rabbits on their trip which took them past many hot springs and frozen lakes.
