Dual Citizen Passport / Visa worrrrries!

First, Sorry if I am posting in the wrong section! feel free to move it if so! sorry!

When you exit Columbia you show the Columbian officials your US passport and get stamped out. One step further at the booth with the Brazilian guys you show your Irish passport. In most cases they won't care that there aren't any stamps from Columbia in it, they will find a free page and bang the Brazilian entry stamp in. In the case they do wonder you just explain and show them your US passport.

That sounds quite complicated. Your best bet is probably to call the embassy or consulate and ask them directly.

Hello, I'm new in this forum.

I have the same scenario as Oatmeal. The difference is that I will be flying directly into Brazil at the end of April.

I have both, US and Guatemalan passports. I was going to apply for a Brazilian Visa but after some research, I discovered I can save $130 (visa fee) if I use my Guatemalan passport (Guatemala is visa-exempt from Brazil). I'm planing on using my Guatemala passport on the flight TO Brazil and my US passport on my flight back to the US.

My only concern is what's going to happen when I check in at the airport here in the US. They usually ask you for your passport and other documents. Should I take some kind of written proof that says I won't need a visa to go to Brazil? Would they even check for a visa? Would they say something if I only show my Guatemalan passport and not the American one? Any thoughts??

(SIGH) It seems I'm breaking my head a lot just to save $130, but hey, I could use that $$$ in Brazil

Hi Romescafe and oatmeal - have you completed your travel? Can you please comment how did you make it work? I have both US and Hong Kong SAR passports and HK and Brazil have this visa exemption agreement.

After reading a several posts, I was going to leave the US with my US passport (required) and show the airline my HK passport, and then enter/leave Brazil with my HK passport. Any thoughts?
