To tell you the truth, I never even thought about that one. Me thinks the nurse gets a commission on shots? What's really scary these days is the Dengue Fever mosquito (no vaccine at the present time).
I spent 3 months in SE Asia and didn't have it; I was advised that it's only needed if you are planning to spend long periods in rural areas.
As Daawgon says, dengue is more of a worry as it is rife in SE Asia. Take care to protect against mosquito bites both during the day and night - the dengue mosquito tends to bite during the day.
