Is there a different, more trafficked airport you could travel from? I was looking on and , and the first returned probably that same price you found using US Airways. Kayak was another 3-400 USD more expensive for their cheapest option...
If you can't really afford more than 1000, I'd probably go ahead and lock in the prices with the US Airways option. There is an off chance that prices come down, but a bigger chance they go up this close to departure
I also checked ex-Philly (maybe you can get a cheap flight to Philly with a low cost carrier?) using Momondo and there is a direct flight with US Airways which looks like it can be had for around 800 USD.
Try different dates - I found DEN-ARN to be the best with 5/25 outbound and 7/1 inbound quite good
(late June inbound is the problem - very expensive)
I repeat, avoid US Airways (America's worst)
