Russian Visa

Hello Travelers,

I recently applied for a Russian visa and was successful in getting it. I didn't get anything from the hostel but instead I got a visa invitation letter and tour vouchers from way to russia. I had confirmed all my accommodations whilst in Russia. When I applied I also wrote a letter stating my itinerary whilst in Russia including the dates in each place and methods of transport whilst in Russia and to get to and from Russia. After sending the rediculous visa fee they issued it no problems, but you do need to have firm dates which can not be changed as they are put on the visa. Remember you can enter Russia after the start date of the visa and depart before the finish date of the visa. but not before the start date or after the end date even if your trip there is less than 30 days. When you fill in the visa form, be careful to not contradict yourself in any areas. Often those Tourist vouchers contain fake information but what you put on your form has to match the invitation letter even if it is not where you plan to stay. If you do put your dates a little off what you plan to allow some flexibility, make sure you put those dates on your visa form and in the letter you write. Goodluck!

Hi Aharrold45,

Thanks for replying, one thing i do not get!

From witch organisation did you get the invitation form!

Thanks DD

Way To Russia is the organisation. You do pay a fee in USD, but the forms come through within 24 hours. Other companies do it, but that's the one I used this time and I also used them back in 2005 when I applied for a Russian visa.

I am sure an invitation from the hotel will be enough, you should just contact them and tell then to send you an invitation. In my experience, getting a Russian visa is fairly easy, as long as the documentation is sufficient. But be aware that Russian immigration follows all the rules to the letter. Make sure you verify that the arrival and depature dates, passport number and everything else is correct.

I have heard horror stories about an elderly couple who got put in holding for about a day because of a typing error the travel agency made. But as long as everything is filled out correct there will not be a problem
