I'm about to book the start of my travels but am having last minute second thoughts!
I had it all planned out... I once thought of myself as being quite an adventurous independent individual but in the last few years of constantly working, paying bills and rent, doing that same old routine everyday, I think I've lost it a little bit? So wanted to start off slow with something all-inclusive. I planned on booking The Thailand Experience with Real gap who's itinery sounded great and the perfect warm up to my travels ( I then plan on going to work inNZ, OZ and to stay with friends in Fiji which I'm still doing)
The problem is, is I've been looking on real gap forums on facebook etc and am a bit worried I'm going to end up with a bunch of over-excited party going 18 year old uni students who's trip has been funded by their parents. and thats not really my scene... I'm only 21, but quite a grown up 21 year old and have been managing bars and restaurants since I was 18.
I just wondered if their was a happy medium? A tour with more of a mix of people? I would like to stay in Thailand for at least 4 weeks, I've been before and love it so much.
Anyhelp would be much appreciated!

Oh and by the way! I still enjoy a drink and party I just dont want it to be one lonnnng party and to be feeling like the 'boring one'!
I've booked tours with a company called Intrepid Travel a couple of times and both times it was a bit of a mixed group in terms of ages.
The first time I did a tour of Thailand and there were a couple of 18 year olds on the tour, quite a few people in their early twenties, a couple in their late twenties, and me in my thirties so it was a bit of a mix.
The next time I booked with Intrepid Travel I did a tour of Borneo and again it was a mix of ages. Most of us were in out twenties and thirties but there was also a couple of older women as well.
So both tours had a mix of ages. Strangely, there was a lot more drinking on the Borneo tour, where the average age was older. Although there was still a few nights out on the Thailand tour as well.
Intrepid are a well organised company (in my experience) and you can read feedack on their website to gain a better insight as to whether a particular tour is for you (feedback is uncensored - the vast majority complimentary, but they don't censor negative comments) but overall I'd say you don't really need to do an organised tour to see Thailand and you can save a bit of cash by doing it on your own.
But if you definitely want to do a tour and didn't want to get stuck with a group of 18 year olds, then the tours I did with Intrepid Travel had a good mix of ages. Obviously that's no guarantee that all their tours will be the same, but in general I think they appeal to a wide range of ages.
