Hi, Im off round the world in june for 9months but im realy unsure whether i need to book accomodation now?Im goin L.A for 5nights.Hawaii for 2week.Fiji for 2weeks then off thru NZ for 6week Thru OZ for 5months and finally thru Malaysia for 1month to bangkok.do i book the first few nights in each place now or just book as i go.Will hostels get fully booked? Any advice.
Much depends on when you travel. Summer everywhere, DEC/JAN in SE Asia are times when you need at least an initial reservation, but the rest of the time you're probably ok with no reservation. Hostels in big cities fill pretty fast and certainly in Honolulu, but reservations can also be a problem when you need to change them. Part of the fun of travel is the hunt for a place to stay - enjoy.
5 nights in LA - NO!!! (change to San Francisco)
It is so easy to source accommodation via the internet now days that you really can take your time. Most hostels will let you know if they have availability during the time you require it and quite a few you can even Skype. Usually while you’re on the road people will also advise of places that they have been to and had a good experience. This leaves you with more flexibility and spontaneity for your travels. Sometimes reading the reviews can be helpful, though that depends on that individual traveler’s expectation of the accommodation. Some accommodation will be fantastic, some average and some hideous, all a part of the adventure. Happy trails.
If your going to Bangkok you should have a few days in Pattaya, there are plenty of good guest houses where you dont need to book but the good ones you may do, try Canterbury Tales Cafe, Pattaya, they have some nice rooms for less than a tenner a night with all facilities.
Google the location
