My daughter is moving to Australia for a year with a work VISA. She is setting up a bank account there which I will then transfer her money to once she gets there. She will bring a small amount of cash with her. An Australian friend who is visiting us and is living in the US for a year has a Cash Passport card that he put his money on and can use it to make purchases like a credit card and at ATMs to get cash like a debit card. But he wasn't able to transfer the money from the card into his bank account here that he opened.
Wait, a year and a half ago you were moving to Australia on a student visa, and now your daughter is moving there...?
Hi,
Google 'cash passport reviews' and you will get lots of advice.

Sorry to confuse you Sander. The question I posted last year was really my daughter's question but she didn't want to bother signing up so I posted it for her. No one ever responded to that old post and I forgot about it.
She loved Australia when she studied there last year so now she is going back for a year.
