Hi Sophie!

I am also planning on going to Aus starting in Sydney from mid/late October and would love to spend New years eve in Sydney.

Have you got everything booked up and a visa and things sorted yet? I think I might set up base in Sydney first until after the new year get my self some extra cash and then hit the east coast.
Ps im lazy wheeled!!

Sophie

Visa got.. flights booked for 5th land 7th.. my ultimate oz week starts 8th and after that I have no idea what to do
Ye I think staying near sydney before I go East coast would be best
Ooo it's exciting meeting someone doing the same
I no sydney is gna be expensive but we can earn so much money
When are you booking flights etc xx

hey. i'm thinking of doing similar to what you two have in mind, but i wont be landing in oz until january as i'm going to india first in nov. i'm worried about running out of money quickly in sydney if it takes a while to find a job. because of india i'll only have the minimum visa amount saved for when i get to australia. eeek nerve wracking isnt it!

Hi ,
I'll be flying to Aus on 30th November from Manchester with one friend on a whv we are so excited to spend nye in Sydney it will be amazing! Are you from Manchester? Love speaking to other people with the same plans so giddy!

O ye you should defo book a few weeks accommodation when you get there if it's' anything like what I have heard

All I know is im going to be watching those fireworks for new years wether it's on my todd or with new friends

Hopefully finding work won't be too hard

I live in stafford so it was either Manchester or Birmingham airport ... In fact I'm not even sure Birmingham fly there
I fly 9 am on a Saturday morning and all I know is im gna be kaking myself lol

My friends in Melbourne if I can't find work in sydney till new years I might go there and try my luck. . I'm hoping for the first time ever I will have some luck and things will just fall into place

It is exciting meeting people doing the same spesh when ur going alone and no one really gets all the prep we've got to do.

I'm asthmatic so finding travel insurance was a ball
Direct line quoted me 300 for the year including sports and baggage so I'm chuffed... Thort it would be over 500

Oooh that's so cheap for insurance I got quoted £1,000 for a year what the hell was I doing wrong haha!! It's so crazy one min I'm so giddy and the next I'm like what the hell am I doing. I'm just hoping I can save a lot of money before I go I would love to do the fruit picking to get another year too! Can I ask who you booked your flight with please I've been told sta travel are cheap?

So I impulsively booked mine to make sure I went.. boomed with gap 360 for £580

Saw a flight with one less stop for 40 cheaper on sta the other day though.. wanted to cry lol

Mines a few day 2 stop- munich & singapore. . Flying with singapore airlines

My friend just booked a return with a flexible pass with sta so he can alter his return date. . He went today.. think it cost him about 800

I know I could of got mine cheaper but I did it like 3 months ago and at the time there was nothing and booking it really gave me the push to start saving

Ye check out direct line if you haven't got asthma yours will be cheaper... There were some other cheap ones but iv never heard of them and cause there is about 50% chance I will go to the hospital once in a year I think it's gna be direct line who I book with for peace of mind

So iv just got that to buy and another backpack because I don't like the top loader if been given and im good to go

I found one one sta travel for 490 around the time I wanna go and I think that had the same stops as yours.

Yes I agree booking something really does give you the motivation me and my friend aren't booking our visa till May I'm like wishing the months away I just need something booked so I know this is happening seems so surreal atm!

I'm hoping I'll be ok with a suitcase I'm willing to stay in hostels for a bit but my plan is to find enough people to house share with when I get there I just don't wanna get stuck in the same place for too long.

You said you already know people over there did they say it's easy to find a job? I think that's my only worry

Hey Sophie

I am heading out to Oz in October and I am thinking the same thing that I would like to stay in Sydney for New Years. Would be good to meet up with people who are thinking about doing the same.

I also plan on travelling the East coast in the new year. So will probably set up in Sydney until after new years.

Lucy
