May and June are a good time to be in Cairns, around that time it's usually pretty busy and finding a job might be hard. While you're in Cairns do an outer reef trip and visit the Daintree and Atherton Tablelands, it might be worth heading down the coast and getting a job in Mackay or Townsville depending on how you go finding one in Cairns.
How long do you have to travel down the east coast?

Thanks for the advice on places to go, I am a Beauty Therapist an have one interview set up for when I get there in a 5* Hotel in a area called palm cove??? Do you no of that area, also a friend of mine worked in a salon for 6 months in Cairns and she is going to get the details for that salon to, so Im hoping I shouldnt struggle to find a job.
At the moment I have as much time as I want really to travel down the east coast, I have a whv so am just going to go with the flow an see how I feel, But am hoping to stay in Cairns if I like it and get a job for about 3 or 4 months, then work my way down the east coast and ending up in Syndey in nov time, but I no plans change so dont want to plan to much.

Sounds like you've got the job under control
Palm Cove is actually north of Cairns, when I was there it was pretty quiet, because it was mostly resorts where older people stayed. I actually spent a fair bit of time at Ellis Beach which is the next beach up and quite a nice area - I might have a photo somewhere if you're interested.
