KL - For one day only! Top things to see please!

Hi,

I am a Malaysian so may be able to give you some advices. Since you have only less than a day to pay visit at KL, i will recommend you stop by Petaling Street, which is a famous street market in KL. From Petaling Street you can easily go to another KL famous street, which is called Bukit Bintang Street. Through Bukit Bintang Street you can access to few big shopping center malls. If this is your first time to KL, i will recommand you go to KLCC or KL towel, which are two of the famous building at Malaysia.

From KLIA airport to KL, i will recommend you take the express bus or train, here is the link you can look for : http://www.cuti.com.my/guide/get2klia.htm. Once you reach KL Sentral ( the main terminal of major trains), you can take taxi or subway (LRT) to the street you want to go. Please make sure you ask the price or find a taxi that is using meter before you get in. If you find a taxi driver which is being rough or unpolite, just simply say thank you and close the door, look for the other one.

Hope this will help.

Try some Indian curry while you are there. It's awesome!

The Badu Caves, just outside of KL, are worth seeing. It's a big, hollow mountain, with Hindu temples inside, and at the foot. If you're lucky you'll see the tribe of monkeys that live on the mountain and sometimes come down to steal fruit from the temple.

Of course, most tourists go to see the Petronas Towers- once the tallest buildings in the world. There's a bridge between the two towers, where you can take pictures.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to see the Petronas twin towers.
Because it's free to visit this building, you have to stand in line very early in the morning... this means you'll be to late the first day, and your second day you have to leave early in the morning to catch your plane...

Luckily, there are enough other places to visit and that are worth taking pictures of in KL!

(and like madpoet said, try an indian curry or a banana leaf meal!!)

Guys.. I think Annavict is not after buildings so suggestions for the Petronas Towers arent much good.

Anna, I havent seen enough of KL (and I'm Singaporean, ha) yet but the Batu Caves sound lovely. There is also the Lake Gardens that I've read about. It's the oldest park in KL and apparently very popular. It's malay name is Taman Tasik Perdana. I read that it takes a few hours to cover the entire park on foot at a leisurely pace. It's got a few attractions of its own.

Maybe you can check that out if you're not keen on Batu Caves!

Thanks for the tips everyone appreciate it- the caves look amazing so will go and see them and then head to Petaling to wander around and check out some mosques along the way!

- batu caves
- merdeka square
- petaling street a.k.a china town
- jalan alor
- little india
- thean hou temple
- sri mahamariamman temple
- national mosque

that's all i can think of at the moment...

24 hours not enough time!!

Batu Caves - Probably the highlight, you can take a train and then a cheap cab to the caves (definately worth seeing!)
Around the CBD - Merdeka Square, Petronas Towers, KL Tower, China town, (Most places are a short walk from the monorail)
And the Pavilion if you like shopping
