Hello im leaving uk on 30th January and arriving in Bangkok 1st feb and hoping to travel for 6 weeks. I've not planned anything but looking at volunteering for 1 week and then hoping to go Cambodia laos and Vietnam and back to Thailand x
Is it safe to Travel to Bangkok right row?Please do your research
Well said, Angelina, don't go in blindly hoping for the best, or believing false claims by people with vested interest. Do your homework! Sadly, gov't claims aren't reliable either. Check out thaivisadotcom, a site for expats living in Thailand. Lots of firsthand accounts of what it's like in all the flooded areas, on a daily basis. I'm a chemist by education, but didn't need that degree or lifelong experience while in Bkk 2 days ago. Just used my nose- even through a hepa filter mask the stench was overpowering cooked fetid, in which very nasty things grow.

im also looking into traveling to thailand etc at the end of january, i have never done anything like this before and would just wondering any advice that you may be able to give to get started, havnt really got a clue just now

When here, because of the Leptospirosis disease that is in the water now, you don't want any flood waters touching any broken skin, or mucous membranes in/on your body, or you could contract that disease. It has an up to 20 day incubation period, before you show symptoms.
Since, according to The Nation newspaper yesterday, the World Bank said that the cleanup, (once the flooding stops next year), will cost $25 billion, there's been almost 700 reported deaths, cases of Leptospirosis already reported, and the now growing and looming large mosquito problem with it's accompanying Dengue Fever issue, (Wall Street Journal yesterday) this flooding debacle is more than a wee bit not normal. Keep in mind, mosquitoes don't know the difference between a tourist area and a back alley. If you're determined to risk coming here, please do so with your eyes wide open, know the facts!!!!!
