Trying to make it as comfortable as possible for both of us......
I don't know what falls under "comfortable" to you, but to me as I look at this itinerary, I can only think "stress, stress, stress". I would very strongly advice you to seriously cut down what all you're trying to do (or to give yourself three times as long to do it all in). Try to savour places, exploring them a bit more in depth, and build in some rest days during your itinerary, as the act of travelling itself is tiring. Right now you don't have time to do more than press the button on your camera and place another checkmark claiming to have "seen" a place, but without any idea of what was there to see. Days of driving 500 miles is absolute madness - that means being in the car for 10 hours; so nearly 12 hours with rest breaks added, and then you're not even seeing anything! In general I think almost every single place on your itinerary needs more time, but I'll call out some below where I think this is particularly true.
Day 3 Los Angeles - Solvang - Hearst Castle - San Francisco (381miles)
The Pacific Coast Highway is gorgeous, but really deserves taking two days to see. Explore the cliffs and beaches in the general vicinity of Big Sur, stop off at Monterey for the aquarium, or at Santa Cruz to have some clam chowder and explore the town for a bit.
Day 5 San Francisco - Yosemite National Park - Los Angeles (523miles)
Even if you are indifferent to nature, and abhor hiking, Yosemite needs at least a full day, just to explore the valley floor and see the main waterfalls, and I'd strongly advice spending two full days here so you can do some shorter hikes, maybe go up to Glacier Point, or over to Mariposa Grove for the sequoias.
Actually, I'm just going to stop here. I just looked at the itinerary in more detail, and really, I could write a line like that every day. Really, scale down your ambitions tremendously: cut half the destinations, either by sticking solely to one coast, or by limiting what you see on each coast (so for example LA-SF-Yosemite, but no Las Vegas, Grand Canyon or San Diego.) Do that and spread out your unplanned day 11-16 over the other destinations, and you might have a "comfortable" trip.
Hi Sander
Thanks heaps....Have been trying to tell this to my wife and i dont think she understands...But your words of wisdom will be a back up to my words.....Hope she will be happy for me to cut down the places and start concentrating on specific places with more time in each places as you have suggested....
Thanks
Muzza
Shorten your questions by 2/3 and maybe we'll read and answer - too early in the day to read that novel!

1. Which is the best internal airlines i should be looking at ?
2. When will be the best time to book for internal flights....
Thanks
i'll be honest that I only read the first part of your proposed trip plan and all I can say is.....NO WAY! If your driving, you will never be able to get out of the car with the route you have planned. I would suggest that you cut it in half and focus on areas that you have the most interest in.
