I'm off on my own to Sri Lanka boxing day, I've read in lonely planet that its unwise to travel on trains as a lone woman, I'm no youngster but has anyone had any experiences of this or can offer advice or any sort. Also if anyone out there is going the same time a travelling buddy would be good anyone. I plan to stay in Colombo for two nights and then get the train up to Kandy, spend a few days there and then head to the beaches and slowly work my way round back up to the airport, I'll be there in total for two weeks.
