Xmas & New Yrs in Manlia - solo traveller - suggestions?

Hello! I am currently in Manila and will be here for Christmas & New Years. Travelling solo and no real plans for the festive season as yet - new years in particular. If anyone is around and wants to meet up I would love that! I'm here for a little while
Alternately if anyone has suggestions on good places to go/parties that may be on I'd be happy to hear from you!
This seems like a place thats pretty into its holidays so I'm sure something exciting is going on!
Thanks!!! C

What you do is also influenced a little bit by how old you are. If you are a kid or quite young you may prefer something different than someone like in my "almost old fart" years. You may prefer fancy nightclubs and action where there are more young people around. I am happy to find a bar that serves food and is not too far a walk or crawl from my hotel.

I always stay in the Ermita area. In this area you have nightlife, malls, casinos, you can walk to MRT and there hotels in all price ranges. I like being able to walk to the Robinson Mall when that area. There are some bars that are frequented by expats and tourists. Often bars have Christmas and New Years parties.

(I always stop in this pub in Manila - the G Point on Padre Faura. Good food, drink specials, band a good mix of expats and locals (mostly women) and reasonably clean. Google it up if you have an interest. L. A. Cafe is another place probably with slightly younger tourists than and expats than G Point. But this place is sometimes closed and sometimes open.)

Christmas is the one time of the year when many Filipinos working overseas return home for the holiday. Of all of the countries in that area I think that in the Philippines Christmas is often a religious experience. But you will still find bars open if the owners think they can make money! I always find it odd to see Christmas decorations up in some of the malls even in early October.

Thanks for you response! The story goes - I'm 25, backpacking round Asia but stopping over in Manila for the time being becausr my cousin (who lives here for work) is going bsck to Australis for the holidays, I'm housesitting/taking a much needed brrak from guesthouses! I'm in the Tuagig area and haven't had the chance to do any exploring beyond here as yet! I think to meet other travellers I'll head over to the Ermita area soon!

If you have the time, try visiting the Tarlac. It holds the Belenisimo sa Tarlac Festival where belen entries were displayed all throughout the Christmas season. Belen is the portrayal of the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. Also there is fireworks display. I'm not sure where it will be held for the New Year though.
