New York City - New Years Eve

My Fiance and I will be in NYC for New Years eve - we are unsure on what to do.
We dont want to be freezing cold in times square and Dont want to be clubbing.

I don't see why you want NYC then - NYE there is all about the party on Times Square. I think you want Arkansas - truthfully!

Yeh bit too cliche for us to be honest!! so are you telling me there is nothing to do in NYC besides Time square.. Im no local but I cant see any truth in this..!

There are lots of parties in New York on New Years Eve--and tons of websites that advertise them. My personal favorite website is at:

http://newyearsevecentral.com/newyork

which I recommend mostly because it lists the prices of all of the options for each event on the main page--instead of teasing you and then hitting you with higher prices after you've clicked on the event.

New York City is not cheap for New Years Eve, however. Many of the parties are high-end affairs and many of the shows will be half the price if you go a day or two earlier or later (this particularly applies to Broadway shows near midnight).

For example, a New Year's Eve dinner cruise on the Spirit of New York (http://spiritofnewyork.com/) will run you $249 per person, while the same cruise at lunchtime on New Years Day runs $42 per person.

Nevertheless, you'll find parties in all price ranges at the site I mentioned. Hope you find one and have a great New Years Eve and a great 2012.

There's lots happening in NY on New Year's Eve. Most restaurants have dinner parties planed, and many have entertainment too. You don't need to go to a 'famous' club or restaurant to have a great time. Virtually every neighborhood in all the boroughs will have celebrations at reasonable cost.

If oyu haven't been to Times Square on NYE,then you are in for a treat. Seriously, 1 million people having a party. There's no telling what the weather will be, could be very cold, rainy or even snowing, but if you've been trekking about the world, that probably won't be a problem for you to handle for a couple of hours either.

There are usually fireworks, concerts in the park, people strolling along the waterfront too.

For specifics, chec Time Out or New York Magazine, or just go with the flow. Some favorites of mine are Chelsea and Tribeca areas of Manhattan, Williamsburg and Atlantic Avenue near the East River in Brooklyn.

And, have a happy New Year!
