Travel Plan Advice for UK/Europe (working while travelling)

nick_nz has indicated that this thread is about Western Europe

PS. Do I need to book a return flight in and out of London to get in ok on a tourist visa? It would be better if I could book one way to London, then one way train to France, that way I could book the flight closer to the date when I know if I want to stay longer or travel to other locations before heading back to Sydney.

Also does the tourist visa allow only a 6month maximum stay?

Thinking I may spend less spend less time north in countries like Germany and instead visit another country or two south ie Hungary, Turkey or Bulgaria?

Hi Nick

Sounds like a fab trip. We live in England so done most of Europe. Think you should include Venice - it is amazing but social life in evenings not great unless you spend a lot. We found Croatia a bit boring after a bit and really expensive - stick close to the cities for any nightlife. Beaches are not great. St Trop. is worth spending some time on. We might be older than you but we know how to party lol

Thanks. I thought croatia was suppose to have lots of kiwis and aussies partying lots? is there anywhere else on the trip you don't think it's worth me visiting?

When you are in Amsterdam, make sure to visit a coffeeshop. Don't do any drugs anywhere else, it's allowed in Holland, not in the other countries where people may be offering on the street. So far for stereotyping.

When in Italy, you can easily see the biggests site of florence in a day or two (spartan program) en you should really take most of the time to visit Rome. I'd recommend a small monastery to stay, but you'd have to be in by eleven. (Piazza Vidoni, 6, 00186 Roma, Italië)
GO TO VENICE, really even just for a day it is worth it!

In Belgium; make sure you try a lot of different beers, it's really their thing, just like chocolate.
In Athens; make sure you visit the Acropolis (and have a hotel at walking distance) don't forget the musea and maybe even make the trip to Delphi.

enjoy all of it!

i will be add Venice in Italy, Budapest in Hungary and Krakow in Poland, (Near Krakow is Wieliczka with Salt Mine museum and Auschwitz if u interesting about WW2 history), Malaga and Granada in Spain. Croatia for 8 days i think is too long. when u will be in Ireland dont go to Killkeny is nothing interesting there. Cork is just for 1 max 2 days. swap Killkeny for county Kerry (Killarney, Dingle) and maybe Galway if u have a time. U should spend less time in Germany as well, only Berlin, Munich and Hamburg are most interesting places, rest country is look nearly the same for me.

good luck

Sorry, I am not going to do the maths and no response as far as I see has mentioned the Schengen agreement - are you aware of it, have you factored in?

If you're going from London to Paris then to Belgium, you should definitely stay at least one night in Lille! It's on your way and it's a great city! It's often underrated because it's in between so many famous cities, but it's worth visiting and there's a great student (night)life! After all, it's the biggest French city north of Paris (and less expensive too)
I've been living there for 6 years, so if you have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them!
