just a curious question more so than anything else!!!
They don't look at anyone's bank statement, nor check up in any other way (as far as anyone going to Australia on a WHV has ever reported here). The requirement of AUD $5000 is there purely for your own protection, as you'll almost certainly will really need at least that much money. (Even living extremely frugally, you can't expect even that amount of money to last you for more than 2-3 months.)
So they don't actually *check* your bank account? I'm not going to have that much, but I'm not worried about finances, as I'll be living with my boyfriend and then planning to find a job not long after...
