krabi to koh samui advise needed.

hey guys,
right now i'm in krabi and i'm planning to go to koh samui on this saturday. my hostel have a transfer package at 450baht but i am wondering if it would be cheaper to go on my own.
i know the price for bus from krabi town- surat thani is about 150 baht.
but i don't know the price for a bus/ferry to samui from surat thani bus station. is it cheap? i want to get the ferry from donsak pier.

Wasif,
Glad to chat with you again. I hope you enjoyed your time in Krabi and surrounding beaches/islands.

I did some checking for you and you can save about 100TB. If the quote from your hostel is for a minivan to Surat Thani (ST), then bus/ferry, I would consider doing it on your own. I hate minivans and I think you will as well if you go with that option. Regular bus to ST: 140 TB, then bus to the dock plus ferry to Samui add 200TB. I got several quotes. You need to get to Raja Ferry Office or Seatran Office in ST for the combo bus/ferry ticket to Don Sak then Samui. If your hostel quote is for large bus to ST, I would go with them.

Good luck and I hope this helps with your decision.

Hi vegasmike, thanks again for helping me. You been a great help. I would love to get on seatran as it stops in nathan pier. If you dont mind, is seatran office nearby the busstation in ST?
Thanks for you help again!

The bus station is a few KMs from the downtown. One advantage of using the package offered by your hostel. Get on in Krabi and let them sort it out.

There are local buses & tuk tuks at the bus station. Reading some blogs, it looks like you can buy a bus/ferry ticket right there. Or get a local bus or tuk tuk to ST downtown and get over to Seatran office. Everything is pretty close once in ST. I would ask all farangs I met and one of them is bound to know how to walk to Seatran. Good luck.
