Hi kwany, thanks for the suggestion I'm glad you're liking the site! The downside to implementing the Cooliris plugin is the extra javascript required to make it work and therefore extra downloads for the visitor on an already pretty heavy page. I can definitely see why it would be nice to have a better display for the photos though. It's kind of basic at the moment. I'll give it some consideration.
And if anyone else wants to the cooliris working on the map, please chime in so I know For reference, it's the same as what you can see when you click the Play Slideshow link on the main Photography page.
Hi Peter - thanks for the prompt reply. Would something that streams albums from a third party website like Picasa, flickr etc be less demanding and easier to implement? See for e.g. the viewer used
I really like the all-in-one page functionality....and the screen real estate on travellerspoint is so much better

Pulling in photos from somewhere else is actually harder to implement. But what are you particularly after? A more attractive display of the photos or photos from somewhere else?
Another approach would be to just make our own photo popup look more like the Cooliris / Jauntlet ones. That "lightbox" effect is itself not too hard to recreate.
Ah ok re pulling photos, was just an idea if easiest option - please excuse my lack of tech knowledge on these things!
I'm after just a slightly more functional and attractive popup display - i.e. simple fwd/back nav buttons and higher res/larger size photo display.
I'd appreciate anything you can implement along those lines.

Ok, got it. I don't think there would be any objections to creating a nicer photo popup I'll see if there's some improvements we can make there, particularly the ability to navigate back/forward makes sense.
