I would recommend booking Vegas in advance. If you are staying during the week, you can usually find really cheap deals.
Thanks, can anyone recommend any sites to look for deals or best to browse the individual hotels websites?
It is always a bit less stressful to have a place reserved rather than start looking once in town. I had a few friends stay Cheap as it is going to get, but how much time are you planning on staying in your room? If you want a nicer room, take a look at: Circus Circus, Riviera, Stratosphere. Try this and plug in your dates. Good luck.
Hey I fly to las Vegas in October and travel the west coast then east for two months
Check expedia for deals on Las Vegas Hotels.
Also, since it looks like you have a car, check on and off the strip for properties.
For example, you can find a very large room; large shower; great restaurants on site that are reasonable cost; gambling, movie theaters; really fun swimming pool area; and live concerts on some nights at Red Rock Canyon. Its about a 20 minute drive to the strip where there is free parking to explore the entire strip. You can often get hotels there for $100.00
Also check old town Las Vegas over by Fremont Street. These hotels are a bit older but they often have good deals for $50.00 or less on the hotel web sites.
Also, many stay at Imperial Palace - in terms of the gambling area; its so so but its in an excellent area and has a Monorail Station. Sleeping is quiet at night.....and its in a really good place on the Strip. The hotel often charges a lot less than others as its an ancient hotel that is getting renovated. A name change is also being asked about. There is a restaurant on site called Hash House a Go Go (inexpensive prices but each dish is HUGE - for example, their chicken salad pecan salad could easily feed a hungry family of 4. (Its good to know where these places are as well as many of the restaurants on the Strip are very very expensive.)
By the way Green Tortoise Hostel is a good place to stay in San Francisco.
Good location - especially if you don't mind walking just a couple of blocks to things you want to see.
It is lively, but friendly....and its in a relatively good part of town (although you will see some street people close by - they are in many parts of San Francisco though, so I would not worry much about it.)
With San Francisco being so compact, its a wonderful place to visit and highly recommend Green Tortoise.
