I would recommend flying...it will take about an hour. Driving will take 2 days.
Ethiopia is completely safe.
Where else do you want to visit in Ethiopia? Bahir Dar, Gondar, Axum? These places, along with Lalibela make up the historical route. You would need about 6 days to visit all of these sites if you fly.
To go to Lalibela, you can take a 2 day bus. If you want go to Lake Tana, Mont Siemiens, Axoum, Danakil (pricey) and Bale Moutains. This trip last year took us 5 weeks with a budget of about 30 $ / person / day. (We did it with some camping and public transportation)
Thanks tania and rotch. I have only 4 to 6 days to burn in ethiopia. Can u guide me as to which all places are a must see. I know only abt the churches. Tats why i chose lalibela. Pls letme know if anythin else is a must see. Also is it easy to find accomodation in lalibela..?
