Vaccinations

How do you know what vaccinations are necessary? I am moving to Bahrain for a year and I'm not sure what all needs to be done prior to leaving... help!

A good sized pharmacy will have a book of inoculations necessary but it does not hurt to check up on sites like this:

http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/bahrain.htm

Don't touch any animals without owners there (rabies).

Muslim laws are very strict and punishments can be draconian so respect the law at all times.

Since you currently reside in the US, check out the CDC's site for Bahrain:

I agree with the Hep A & B vaccinations. They are useful in every country. Hep A is related to food, unsanitary restaurant conditions and water. Hep B is passed by blood and bodily fluids including saliva.

Skip the rabies. Use common sense there and don't pet the local wildlife. This includes cats and dogs.

Sorry Cyberia, I missed that your link was also to the CDC site. D'oh!
