We are planning to visit family in Philadelphia. 2 adults and 2 children. We want to make as much of our break as possible. What would you recommend as mode of transport. We have access to a car and driver or would we be better going by train or bus or internal flights and have not idea how much any of these modes of transport cost. Many thanks in anticipation of help
Nicola, no one can offer any advice when you give no clue where you're traveling from.
Cheers,
Terry
Sorry about that. We are travelling from Northern Ireland. We would like to do 2 or 3 cities including Philadelphia, New York and 1 other. Does anyone know distances and lenght of time it takes to travel from one city to another and the best way to get there? thanks
Obviously the only way you're getting from Northern Ireland to the US is flying.
Philadelphia to New York is only 150 km (less than 100 miles) and since this part of the American eastern seaboard is very thickly populated you have loads of choices between trains and buses.
Some train suggestions:

2.) http://www.septa.org
3.) www.njtransit.com
Some Bus suggestions:

Have fun.

Much better off on the bus, train, or car when traveling between NY and Philly. You won't want a car though while you are there unless you are staying outside the city center. Philly isn't a bad town with a car, but NY tends to be quite a bit of a hassle.
All the best
Ditto DocNY. I meant to mention that in my reply above... forget the car, a total hassle in NYC...
Cheers,
Terry
thanks I will look into bus and train routes and then decide. Does anyone have any recomendations of how long to stay in New York and what area to stay in. We want to see all the important sites and not be too rushes but will be on a budget
thanks
Nicola
