Anyone ever get stranded in EU?!

So now I find myself possibly getting stranded, been here 2 months over my 90 day stay... calling the embassy when they open tomorrow morning to see what I can do to get back home... well most likely going to local police station since the embassy is 350km away.

Give us a few more details please -

What country are you in?
What nationality are you?
Are you travelling as a tourist or working?

Finland
US
Tourist

Friends here said to come and stay, would have no problems studying or working so I figured why not, you don't get these kinds of chances every day.

Now it looks like i've exhausted all my resources trying to establish and facing a dead end as things aren't as simple as they sounded. I'll be honest with the authorities and tell them everything but I'd really like to know what I can expect before. :o

Yeah I know stupid move, should've done my research but I figured they know they ropes it's their country and could help to sort things out but nope the paperwork process is pretty much impossible at this point.

Sure is. You overstayed, end of.

So the possibilities are €1200 fine, ban on reentry for a time period (1-3 years maybe), deportation, or get out unnoticed.

Probably will get noticed since I have to ask the embassy for help out... my flight back is long gone, otherwise i'd be out next week.

Any idea what I can expect in my situation?

Going to the police anyway not the embassy... there's no embassy out here in the boonies.

Your embassy not on the phone?

As to the odds, maybe someone here has advice - I can find stories both ways online, nothing conclusive.

Is it worth buying a flight ticket home and trying your luck? Or will an immigration officer certainly pick up on it? I dunno, may be worth trying to get out unnoticed, depending how concerned you are about being able to visit the schengen zone in the future.

Buy your ticket for your flight back home. Then take it and go the nearest Finnish office dealing with foreigners' affairs, visa etc. Tell them you overstayed, realised your mistake, bought your ticket - show it to them - and ask if they can give you a paper saying that you're allowed to leave now. I don't know the Finnish words for it, but they'll know what you mean.
Do it as fast as possible, that's the best way out of the situation.
Or chance it and simply go to the airport and hope for the best.
