Hi
Hi Dale
I'll be flying out solo to Melbourne on the 4th of November. Be good to meet up if you decide to head out to the east coast
Alicia
Hey guys,
I land in Melbourne on 8th November, would be good to meet up for a drink and some company for sure!
Mollie
Hey girls, my Internets been down a while sorry!
I'm looking at booking my flights this week so should have a final arrival date soon what company did you guys book flights through? I've been looking with STA Travel and they seem to come up with good prices, just wondering if there is anywhere better??
Oh and does anyone know what kind of risk there is in just getting a one way flight as i may want to fly out to NZ after and wont need a return flight, just heard a few horror stories of people being turned away before they even get in the country, which would be quite sucky lol
Cheers x
Hi there,
It really depends what do you intend doing. Melbourne is a rather large city and as much as I loved living there (a paradise for Aussie people as it has a European feel into it) I would recommend that you fly to Brisbane or Perth if a purpose of your trip is to visit the country. You will be able to get a cheaper flight from the West to the East cost with Virgin Australia or JetStar. The flight is quite long thought.
Queensland is an amazing place to visit and you are closer to the Great Barrier Reef while on East coast. Although there are plenty of things to do on the Western Coast as well – watch the big fish while surfing ;-)
In relation to your question regarding the return ticket, you will normally need it while applying for your visa online, wouldn’t you? Again, you can get some cheap flights to New Zealand when you book them in advance so that should not be a problem to book your return ticket.
Hope that helped.
x
Hey
I bought my flight from STA (cheapest i could find). I've only bought a one way ticket too as i want to travel to other places before heading home. If you dont have a return ticket you need to take proof with you (bank statement) to show that you are able to pay for your flight home.
Alicia
Yeah think I'm going with STA, getting a bit nervous now it feels like i'm just going to be floating around for the first few days/weeks as i don't have any solid plans in place, anyone in the same boat?? x
Just seen this Hostel in St. Kilda just out side Melbourne sounds awesome!!
and its well worth having a look on the page, it has some great information about tourism in and around Melbourne and a lot of helpful tips about getting work and other things, well worth a look!
