I have never been to the full moon party before and am going to the one in June this year. But from what friends who have been have told me, it goes on til early early hours. you will need to get from Koh Phangan to Phuket before even getting to the airport... i would honestly say you dont have much of a chance of that!!!

Travel from BKK to Ko Tao ( a picturesque tiny island directed at novice and experienced Scuba Divers ) is easily accomplished by rail to SURRATHANI and Ferry to Ko Tao.
I know for certain there is a ferry from Ko Tao to Ko Pagnan.
Don't know about from SURRATHANI to Ko Pagnan direct.
You appear to be one of those "wild and crazy" westerners who can only focus on one goal in particular.
I don't know diddly about the FULL MOON PARTY. However, you can reverse directions to Ko Pagnan from Phuket via Ko Samui / SURRATHANI.
The "Blue Coral" resort is an ideal, affordable place to stay in Ko Pagnan. Reed cabins on stilts(?). They meet you by boat at the ferry dock and carry you to the resort in their long-tail boat. Excellent food, friendly and agreeable personnel. Kanghja for the asking at good prices IF that's your thing.
A couple of Aussies there were so "blown away" it proved impossible to get to know them. Not every guest is that way.
It may have been twenty (20) years since I was there; but it is still a treasured memory.
Tremendous sunsets. Sparkling clear surf. Shallow for almost miles before the dropoff.
Highly recommend.
